  • Players To Watch #1

Cameron Maybin OF Fla, This is his year. The prize player from the trade just a little over a year ago is poised to let lose. Maybin has been on this list before and is still very young. A eventual 5 tool guy he is a must own this year in all formats.
  • Players To Watch #2

Matt Wieters C Balt, With R. Hernandez being traded to the reds in the NL. Matt is taking over the young pitching staff of the O's. Will hit for AVG. and be solid defensively, look for power numbers to come along as the year and his career progresses.
  • Players To Watch #3

Neftali Feliz SP Tex, The Rangers needed to start building a pitching staff and no better a young cornerstone than Feliz. He is as close to a sure thing as you can find right now. A power right arm who moved up quickly from low A to Dble A last season will make the jump to the majors this year. If not out of spring training then not to far into the season the Rangers will need to give him a call.
  • Player To Watch #4

Aaron Poreda SP ChiW, People when they think of the Vasquez trade to the Braves think it was a dump of somoene Ozzie just did not like, BUT there was more too it and this Left hander is the real reason why. Look for huim to get a mid year call up and he will not dissapoint.
  • Player To Watch #5

Jason Heyward OF Atl, He will make schafer expendable for the Braves if they are in need of mroe pitching. Heyward is there best bat in the minors and a real star in the making. If you can grab him and stash him do so. Heyward wil be up soon enough and there to stay.
  • Player To Watch #6

Jeremy Hillickson SP T.B., I always try to find that one person most are not talking about, but have the chance to be someone everyone is talking about in a year or two. Hillickson is that guy, with such huge names ahead of him on the prospect epth chart Hillickson gets lost in the mix. I feel he could be the stable force that holds all these great young arms together. Someone to hold onto in AL only leagues and as he proves himself someone to grab in mix'd leagues as well.

Torii Hunter A Yankee?

Posted by rotoenquire on May 10, 2006

With Gary Sheffield on the DL, Yankees promoted Melky Cabrera.  There in the hopes he can get something going so they can deal him in a trade.  the Yankees have not been very high on this kid like some scouts have been on other teams.

The Yankees are really hoping to get Torii Hunter from the Twins.  With Denard Spahn and Jason Kubel waiting in the wings the Twins can finally let Torii go.  They need to act fast before the Yankees realize Cabrera would be a better option than Hunter.

Dana Eveland Gets His Shot!

Posted by rotoenquire on May 10, 2006

With Ben Sheets headed to the DL probably today.  The Milwaukee Brewers plan to call up Dana Eveland from Triple-A Nashville.  Dana is doing well with a record of 3-1 with a 0.75 ERA, 0.81 WHIP and 33 strikeouts in 36 innings while pitching for Nashville this season.

Dana Eveland is one of our top 25 NL prospect pitchers.  This guy has what it takes to be a solid pitcher in the Majors.  I project him to be a 3-4 starter with some decent strike out numbers.  If you don't have him, get him now.  He will stick even when Sheets comes back, even if it means in the Bull-Pen for now.

Who Is The M’s All-Star?

Posted by rotoenquire on May 10, 2006

Every team gets to have one person to represent there club come All-Star time.  Does Ichiro, still have the following to be elected a starter or will the manager of the AL All-Star team have to select who gets to be the Mariners lone All-Star?

I feel that as of right now the Mariners lone representative should be Jose Lopez.  Among second baseman Lopez Ranks 1st in AB 140, 5th in Runs 17, 1st in Hits 40, 1st in Home Runs 4, 1st in RBI 26, 8th in Avg .286.  He is not well known enough to get elected, but looking at this team he deserves the call.

The high side to this talent is even greater, he was a steals machine in the minors, stealing 31 bags in 2002.  If Ichiro can take this kid under his wing and teach him better technique on the bases.  This kid could be a 15-15 to 20-20 player, that would put him among the elite at Second base.  Keep an eye on this kid and he should be starting in all fantasy formats.

50 Games For Young!

Posted by rotoenquire on May 10, 2006

Baseball handed out it's verdict today, involving the incident with Delmon Young and a replacement umpire.  As most know on April 26, Young tossed a bat at a replacement umpire, hitting the umpire in the chest.  The result is a 50 game suspension by Baseball.  The longest suspension in International League history.  Giving another black eye to a player thought to be one of the best to come along since Barry Bonds.

I wonder is he another Barry in the Making, with a Lyle Alzado temper?  Tampa Bay has had a bad run of picking players with problems, First Baseman Elijah Dukes was put on suspension by Tampa for fighting with coach's and also has a history of problems.

Tampa Bay is a team on the up-swing, with players allot of fans could love.  Do they want these headaches to go along with that.  Can any team handle 2 guys like this on the same roster?  I expect one of them to be traded soon, Dukes being the more obvious choice, Young is just too good to get proper trade value.
