  • Players To Watch #1

Cameron Maybin OF Fla, This is his year. The prize player from the trade just a little over a year ago is poised to let lose. Maybin has been on this list before and is still very young. A eventual 5 tool guy he is a must own this year in all formats.
  • Players To Watch #2

Matt Wieters C Balt, With R. Hernandez being traded to the reds in the NL. Matt is taking over the young pitching staff of the O's. Will hit for AVG. and be solid defensively, look for power numbers to come along as the year and his career progresses.
  • Players To Watch #3

Neftali Feliz SP Tex, The Rangers needed to start building a pitching staff and no better a young cornerstone than Feliz. He is as close to a sure thing as you can find right now. A power right arm who moved up quickly from low A to Dble A last season will make the jump to the majors this year. If not out of spring training then not to far into the season the Rangers will need to give him a call.
  • Player To Watch #4

Aaron Poreda SP ChiW, People when they think of the Vasquez trade to the Braves think it was a dump of somoene Ozzie just did not like, BUT there was more too it and this Left hander is the real reason why. Look for huim to get a mid year call up and he will not dissapoint.
  • Player To Watch #5

Jason Heyward OF Atl, He will make schafer expendable for the Braves if they are in need of mroe pitching. Heyward is there best bat in the minors and a real star in the making. If you can grab him and stash him do so. Heyward wil be up soon enough and there to stay.
  • Player To Watch #6

Jeremy Hillickson SP T.B., I always try to find that one person most are not talking about, but have the chance to be someone everyone is talking about in a year or two. Hillickson is that guy, with such huge names ahead of him on the prospect epth chart Hillickson gets lost in the mix. I feel he could be the stable force that holds all these great young arms together. Someone to hold onto in AL only leagues and as he proves himself someone to grab in mix'd leagues as well.

Ichiro and M’s Agree To Deal

Posted by rotoenquire on July 10, 2007

Ichiro and the Mariners have agreed to a contract that could be signed today.  Reports are that it is in the range of 100M over 5 years.

The question now becomes what will the M’s do next?  With this increase in payroll will the M’s in the offseason deal guys like R. Ibanez, R. Sexson or A. Beltre?

The Answer is most likely no.  However this will damper any hopes M’s fans had of adding anything to there roster this season for a playoff run or in the off season.  Looking to hold pat and get help from within.

Rangers Dealing Atsuka

Posted by rotoenquire on July 8, 2007

The Brewers had a deal in place to send T. Gwynn Jr. to the Rangers for A. Atsuka, but the deal fell apart when B. Hall got hurt last week.  Look for it to be reveived here soon.  The Brewers are going to hope a 29 year old G. Balfour will fill the help needed in the bullpen.

I think this would be a bad trade for the Rangers, granted Gwynn needs solid playing time and could be a SB machine if given the chance.  But Gagne is a short term guy for the Rangers at closer, Atsuka is a must keep I think for them….

What Is New In The News

Posted by rotoenquire on July 7, 2007

There has been a lot going on as of late in MLB.

C. Gomez got hurt and will miss 6-8 weeks, good news with this is if you own L. Milledge he will get his shot after the all-star break.

M. Corpas in Colorado has his new job as the teams closer.  Look for him to retain it for most of the rest of the season if not all of it.  Fuentes is hurting and could be traded.

W. Williams is back to form the last few starts, look for it too continue.  Given his age it would only be a matter of time before he gained form again.

M. Buehrle is back on the trading block.  What does this mean, look for him too be traded.  Too bad they won’t get any type of value.  Too make up for this they still will deal J. Contreras to still be delt.  With Gavin Floyd and Gio Gonzalez ready for the bigs, the White Sox have the depth to make some deals.

A. Beltre and R. Sexson if you can grab these mariners in a trade do it now.  There low value right now will be worth what you have to give up.  Beltre and Sexson will have great second halfs just watch.

M. Bradley who is now in the NL and some what healthy is a must grab.

J. Keppinger will get a chance to be the regular util player for the Reds, he can hit for average and is better defensivly than there other options.

Look At What Is Going On Now!

Posted by rotoenquire on June 27, 2007

Well with the Cubs Ryan Dempster being out for a bit the Cubs look like they have a clsoer in Marmol till his return.  Marmol may surprise and stick as the closer and even hold that job next year.  Marmol is clearly the best RP the Cubs have.  Marmol should be picked up in all leagues.

B. Hennessey CL S.F. is doing a great job right now for the Giants, however look for B. Wilson to get a call up soon and be featured at set up and given save chances.  Relievers are going to be had for a high price before the trading deadline and Hennessey or Wilson would be a welcome addition to several playoff teams…Say Detroit?

Adam Miller the top prospect in the Indians minors right now maybe getting the call soon, but not too start.  He will be put into the bull-pen an dused much like Marrow is being used now by the M’s.

C. Gomez OF NYM has been featured in the Mets OF in the hopes of using him as trade bait to add some pitching.  But with how well he is doing and the fact that Mark Buerle SP ChiW is no longer going to be traded, Gomez is not going anywere anytime soon.  Also he has become a fan favorite with his flashy play.

Could the Mariners be adding M. Teixeira 1B Tex to there line-up?  R. Sexson 1B along with R. Feierabend SP could be sent for the power hitting first baseman from Texas.  An upgrade for the M’s and solve the problem at 1st for the Rangers for a few more years until one of there several prospects are ready to take over.

Yankees And Trades

Posted by rotoenquire on June 19, 2007

Much is being made about the Yankees and hoe they are looking to make a big splash in the trade market this year like they have dine in the past.

I think smaller deals are more likely to be comming.

Shea Hillenbrand will be a cheap and easy fix for there glearing problem at 1B and not cost them what a Texeria or Helton would.

Gagne is also a high cost guy who could be past on for a recovering E. Guardado who can be had cheap from the Reds.

Look for small too be the theme this year from the Yank’s and not the big splash of the Yank’s of old.

Trade Winds

Posted by rotoenquire on June 12, 2007

Elijah Dukes has another child on the way this time with a 17 year old girl…SIGH!  That will make 5 kids with 5 different women, this news a week after he threatened to kill his wife and kid during a fight.  Dukes time is up in T.B. and the only team showing interest is the Washington Nationals, fitting he should end up in the countries capital.

Garrett Atkins the Angels are still showing interest in the Thirdbaseman.   Add in how Ian Stewart is doing in the minors the Angels just might have a chance at grabbing Atkins.  Look for something to be done before trade deadline.

Texas Looking To Deal?

Posted by rotoenquire on June 9, 2007

With the Rangers seemingly out of the race early this year players who seem too be on the outs are names like Texeria, Gagne and Millwood.  Who could these players be delt too and at what cost?

Texeria will be sought after by many, however the fit I see actually may suprise and shock most.  The Detroit Tigers adding Texeria at 1st would seemingly solve the only problem spot in there line-up.

What would it cost? How about Marcus Thames, Brent Clevlen and Jordan Tata, what no A. Miller SP or C. Maybin OF? NO! They are the 2 untouchables in the Tigers system that will not be going anywhere.  I like this deal for both clubs actually allot, Thames would take over at 1st, Clevlen is another year away from play maybe next season working his way as a starter in the Texas outfield.   Jordan Tata could break his way into the rotation after starting in long relief in the pen for Texas.

Gagne looks like Cleveland will be the fit there in a bull pen that could really use his help taking over as closer for a heart attack closer in Borowski.

At what cost? How about C. Lofgren SP who has a great arm if he can only be consistant.  In the minors this year he will go 7+ and strike out 7 or more then have a following start were he allows 5+ runs.  He has all the tools and is 1-2 years away from making an impact.

Millwood looks like he could be a good fit for Seattle and the Mariners.  The Mariners you may ask, hell why not and the M’s have the talent to deal and Millwood may not cost as much as you think.

But, what is the cost?  How about Byan Lehair 1B and Greg Halman OF.  LeHair is still a couple years away so is Halman, but if the Rangers do aquire Thames it gives them time to wait and see and there outfield is crowded as is so no need to rush on Halman either.

Cardinals Looking For SP

Posted by rotoenquire on June 9, 2007

The cardinals are looking to add some starting pitching. The staff that the Card’s put allot of hope into is not what doing well at all.  But who could the club add for not allot of there minor league talent?

Wade Miller is actually one at the top of there list, and with the addition of T. Percival to there bull pen could they have the extra help to give some of it away.

John Thomson the Blue Jays are out of it for this year and Thomson has value as a NL pitcher and should not cost much at all to get.

Others too look at are M. Morath, T. Ohka, O. Perez, J. Fogg
